Sixth formers make debating final
A pair of Headington sixth formers have qualified for a competitive debating final for the second year in a row.
Morgane and Vennese, both U6, did brilliantly to qualify for the prestigious Finals Day of the Oxford Union Schools Competition.
The sixth formers excelled in debates against a wide range of schools in the tough regional round which was held on Wednesday 4th March.
They argued for the imposition of fines for those who make public statements of climate change denial and against regretting the decline of the tightly-integrated family unit.
Morgane and Vennese have just 15 minutes to prepare their arguments, without having seen the motions beforehand.
Dr David Morrish, who leads Headington’s debating programme, said: “To debate, as they did, with such intelligence and crispness is a hugely-impressive achievement.”
