Headington celebrates Holi
Headington was transformed into a riot of colour as the School marked the festival of Holi.
This year Tuesday 10th March is the festival of Holi, the Hindu festival which sees Hindus create bonfires and cover each other in rainbow-hued powder to mark the beginning of spring.
Holi celebrates the triumph of good over evil and the coming of spring. It lasts for a night and a day, taking place on the last full moon of the Hindu lunar month Phalguna. Observed for centuries, the festival is a jubilant occasion.
At lunch, a number of girls took part in a Holi event as part of our Year of Community.
Head of Charities and Communities Mr David Cunningham said: “It is important that we recognise the diverse community we have at Headington.
“Our students enjoy learning about and getting involved in a plethora of cultural events from a variety of cultures and religions.”
