Return to School
After months apart, the School community was reunited in person once more.
While hugs were off the menu – and facemasks were the new ‘must-have’ item – girls were delighted to be able to see their friends again and restart in-person lessons.
A raft of safety measures and precautions, from the installation of thermal imaging cameras, to carefully-thought out changes to the school day, to year group ‘bubbles, have been put in place to keep everyone safe.
The first girls arrived on site on 21st August, with the School providing overseas boarders who needed to quarantine on arrival a safe and comfortable place to do so. The rest of the School arrived in dribs and drabs, with a comprehensive induction programme inviting each year group in individually to get their heads round all the new systems in place.
Friday 11th September was the first day all Senior School year groups were in school together, while the Prep School enjoyed its first full day on Thursday 10th September.
Headteacher Mrs Caroline Jordan said: “It’s hard to underestimate just how fantastic it is to see everyone back in school together again. Remote learning was hugely successful for our girls but it’s still not quite the same as having a class physically in the same room.
“There are lots of changes and new things to learn but over the past few months our girls have proved they are incredibly resilient and adaptable – I know that they will quickly adjust to all the new systems and continue to thrive.
“Staff have been working extremely hard over the past few weeks and months to make sure everything is as safe and welcoming as it possibly can be and it is so wonderful to see everyone so happy to be back.”
