Academic Presentations
Some of Headington’s brightest and most curious minds have been going above and beyond the curriculum to explore subjects in greater depth.
Each year the School hosts an Academic Presentations Evening, featuring presentations on projects chosen by U6 girls completing Extended Essays or applying for Oxbridge which give them the opportunity to explore particular areas of interest.
Usually these presentations would be given live in front of an audience, also giving the girls experience in public speaking and experiencing a different setting to learn from. Though the School was sadly unable to invite pupils and parents into school to enjoy these presentations in person due to Covid, the girls were delighted to be able to put together and share recordings of their presentations.
The subjects include such diverse topics as:
- A brief introduction to CRISPR-cas9
- To what extent was the Conservative Party’s leadership and political strategy the most important factor in securing Margaret Thatcher’s re-election in 1983?
- Research on how to price paintings and how auctions impact the value of paintings.
- What is the most effective method to treat generalised anxiety disorder?

Mr Matthew Wood, Assistant Head Academic said: “We hope you enjoy the opportunity to watch some of these fascinating presentations and that perhaps your daughter may be inspired to undertake a similar project herself in the future.”
