Year 4 DC Beagle challenge
On 4th May Headington Prep hosted the annual Year 4 DC Beagle challenge. This is a mathematics competition for local schools in Oxfordshire and there were over 15 schools in attendance. The Prep School was represented by Martha, Carmen, Gwen, Mia, Merope, Rebecca, Lucy and Ellie. They spent an intense hour and a half doing battle in the Hive building at Headington Senior School. Out of 40 teams, Lucy and Ellie secured third place and Rebecca and Merope came in fifth place. A fantastic effort from all the girls.
Carmen really enjoyed the day and ‘would definitely recommend it – it was really fun.’ Lucy agreed saying, it was ‘really fun and a great workout for your brain’. All the teams were supported by a group of Year 6 girls who helped to marshall the event and acted as scorers. Imogen, Year 6 student, said ‘the people I marked were so smart that I think that they were the best teams in the whole room’ and Cassie agreed saying that it was ‘really hard work because my teams were keeping me on my feet with their quick answers!’. It was another successful afternoon of fun mathematical games to stretch the mind. Well done everyone!
