Prep Dance projects
In Dance this half term Year 1 has focused on the topic ‘Moon Zoom’ and we look forward to starting the new topic of ‘Dinosaur Planet’ next half term! The girls have been working really well creating dance actions to reflect the topic. Year 2 have been creating and learning dance choreography based on the topic of ‘Land Ahoy!’ The girls have worked really well and have been very excited to focus on this in dance lessons as they prepare for their Year 2 play. Next half term Year 2 will be focusing on ‘Towers, Tunnels and Turrets’ which will give lots of opportunities for creative ideas for choreography.
After the half term holiday, Year 3 will be taking part in Dance lessons focusing on ‘Vikings’, which should inspire some really creative choreography and group work tasks. This half term, Year 4 have been working really well, developing their Contemporary Dance technique and learning phrases of movement as well as creating choreography focusing on dance actions and choreographic devices. The Year 4 topic this half term has been ‘The Tudors’ and they have learnt key dance actions that would have been performed in Tudor times. They have also been discussing Historical information.
Year 5 have been focusing on the topic of ‘Industrial Revolution’. Using the the Honda Cog advert as inspiration, they have created interesting group dance work including action and reaction choreography. The Year 5s have also developed their Contemporary Dance technique and understanding of the dance actions and choreographic devices. After the half term holiday, Year 6 will be taking part in Dance lessons and their topic will be the Second World War. The dancers will focus on learning and developing Contemporary Dance technique phrases inspired by this topic.
