Careers Fair 2022
Girls turned their minds to the future at Headington’s first in-person Careers Fair since 2019.
More than 80 different professionals from the Headington community representing a huge range of different career paths were on hand to share their experience and expertise at the event on Tuesday 15th March.
There were representatives from medicine, dentistry, engineering, law, the military, law enforcement business, accounting and finance, creative design, the music industry, news and media, recruitment, education and a host of other careers options.
The packed event saw girls from U4 to U6 picking the brains of experts as they considered what they might like to do with their future – and what decisions they needed to take now to help them on their chosen path.
Paul Cullimore, Solutions Director at cyber security firm Quorum Cyber, said: “It was encouraging to see so many Headington students ask about what a cybersecurity career actually was and the many different roles available within this sphere. Students, teachers and some parents now have a better understanding of this world. My hope from the evening would be see Headington School in the 2023 finalists of the CyberFirst Girls Competition.
Miss Lyn Cockshott, Head of Careers at Headington, said: “We were so delighted to be able to invite girls, parents and professionals on site for the event.
“We had a fantastic turnout and it was so lovely to see girls inspired and talking animatedly about their future careers and plan. Many of the professionals who attended either have children at the School or are Headingtonians themselves and we hugely appreciate their support.
“All in all it was a huge success and we look forward to continuing those conversations about next steps for the future with the girls as part of our in school careers programme.”
