Celebration of Piano
The Celebration of Piano was an exhibition of Headington School’s finest young pianists. On 5th May, parents, staff and friends were invited to hear some of the world’s most renowned piano pieces.
Jingtong (U5) played a piece from a famous movie while the movie clip was projected behind her, Freya (U5) played her wonderful composition dedicated to a person that is very special for her. Nathalie selected a YouTube video to accompany her performance and Mr Humphries adjusted the lighting so that the sunrise could be reproduced as she played! The concert also had a special guest, young Veva of Year 6 from Headington Prep School who played in a jazz band with her father. There were duets and very famous piano pieces including Chopin’s and Liszt’s Etudes as well as one of the most renowned Rhapsodies by Brahms.
Mr James Penman, Acting Music Director said: “What a fabulous concert, a great variety of music! Some exceptional talents from the Prep School all the way up to our U6. It has inspired me to try to practice more!”
Dr Rossella Rubini, Head of Piano, said: “All the performances were excellent! The audience was big, thanks to many boarders who came to support their friends.”
