Flute Concert
Headington flautists dazzled audiences on Tuesday 9th May with a fabulous concert of solos, duets, quartets and ensembles.
Notable performances came from Kate (U3), who played one of the most famous pieces written for the flute, ‘Hungarian Pastoral Fantasy’ by Franz Doppler and Ellie (U5) enchanted the audience the second movement of the Poulenc’s Flute Sonata.
Flute Ensemble Club closed the concert with eclectic performances of ‘Por Una Cabeza’ and ‘Mattachins from Capriol Suite’ which were beautifully directed by Ms Kate Roberts, Headington’s Head of Woodwind and Brass. The girls practised these pieces for weeks in advance and their hard work was evident in the final showing.
Ms Roberts said: “Well done to everyone involved – the practice was well worth it! We’re so proud of how far the flautists have come this term. The flute concert is becoming a yearly event, something that I am very proud of and I look forward to the next one.”
