Primary Connect concert at St Andrews
Children from four primary and prep schools joined their voices together in harmony for the third Primary Connect Series.
The concert in March brought together the vocal talents of pupils at Barton Park, St Andrew’s and Windmill primaries with Headington Prep School, ably conducted by Head of Music at Headington Prep Mrs Amy Evetts.
This unique initiative is aimed at fostering a sense of community and collaboration and a love for singing among the more than 180 enthusiastic young singers involved. The Primary Connect Series revolves around the passion for music and the joy of learning through song.
This year, Mrs Evetts carefully selected a diverse array of songs to teach the Year 3 pupils. Working alongside staff from each school, they prepared solo and joint choir performances.
The children collaborated well together learning their songs and also had fun learning about the joys of collective musical expression through their joint performances.
Mrs Evett said: “It was a lovely, sunny afternoon at St Andrew’s Church of England School as parents arrived and the wide variety of Spring songs were uplifting, celebratory and full of hope, which the audience thoroughly enjoyed.”
Looking ahead, the series is set to evolve further as Headington Prep School eagerly anticipates hosting the event at their new site at Headington Rye Oxford in 2025.
