Minibeasts at Hill End
Year 1 had a fantastic time at Hill End as they immersed themselves in their ‘Enchanted Woodland’ topic.
The sun shone, the sky was blue and the woodland creatures gave the pupils a wonderful show.
The children saw butterflies, minibeasts and birds. Under the metal sheets, they discovered grass snakes, golden slow worms and a family of voles in their nest.
The children developed their resilience, imaginative and collaboration skills as they built dens, made homes for cuddly badgers and squirrels, sailed boats down the stream and swung on the rope swing.
In the afternoon the children spent time pond dipping under a giant oak tree. They caught water snails, dragonfly nymphs, water boatmen and tiny newts in nets and had a magical day.
