U11 IAPS Hockey
On Wednesday 25th September the U11 hockey squad took part in the IAPS Hockey competition at St Edwards School, Oxford.
The team started slowly in this competition and in their first game Headington Rye faced a very strong Oratory Prep school team. With a sluggish start, the U11’s lost 3-0. This was a bit of a wake-up call and the team played some good hockey against Swanbourne House in the second game, winning 3-1, with a fantastic poachers goal by Kitty M-Y. In their final group game they lost 2-1 to Beachborough.
Other results went the way of Headington Rye Prep and the team qualified for the cup quarter-finals. They were up against a very strong Amesbury side (with Sophie facing her cousin!). This game was end to end, but unfortunately, Headington Rye lost 3-2 and were knocked out of the competition.
The team showed great commitment and determination throughout the tournament with a positive attitude and being resilient when goals were scored against them. Well played everyone.
