Meet Esme

Year 7 Drama Scholar

Esme joined the School in Year 3 and is a Drama Scholar. Alongside taking roles in productions including ‘Ratty’ in ‘The Wind in the Willow’, Esme takes Speech and Drama lessons and is currently working on Grade 7. She also does Gymnastics outside of school and plays Hockey, both at Headington Rye and for Oxford Hockey Club.

On Drama at Headington Rye

It’s very fun. They give us lots of opportunities so there’s always something you can get involved with, even if you’re not the type of person who wants to go on stage, you can have a go with lots of things behind the scenes. Now I’m in the Senior School, I’d like to get involved with lots of plays and possibly go to a Drama school when I’m older.

On her goals

I want to get a lead role in a play and get into lots of sports teams – and possibly become a Head Girl. I think that would be quite fun. At the moment, I’m doing one to one Drama lessons and I’ve already made the Hockey team – as the teams come by I’ll just try more sports and do my best to get in the team.

Beyond Headington Rye

Drama is possibly something I would like to pursue as a career, or going to a veterinary school  and becoming a vet when I’m older. I would love to act in movies, my inspirations are Adam Sandler and Jennifer Anniston – their movies are really fun!
