Sky Studios Elstree
On Tuesday 12th November, 30 U4 students visited Sky Studios, Elstree. The trip was a prize they had won by winning a national competition by GSA (Girls School Association) and Sky Edit – with a special mention to Una, Evie, Suzanna and Rachel for their first prize winning news report.
While at Elstree, students: spent time in an ‘Extended Reality’ Studio (creating pitch trailers for their own film concepts); had a talk on the range of careers offered in the TV and film industry; used the screening room to watch their trailers and a virtual tour of the studio; and they walked into the studio’s grounds where they saw the original jeep from the Jurassic Park movies (the latest of which had just finished filming!).
All of the students and staff had an inspiring time:
‘My favourite part of the day was filming the pitches. The high-tech space was really awe-inspiring’ Ai Ling
‘The highlight of the trip for me was the task of being able to record our own trailers. It was a good opportunity to see what it’s like to be in a recording studio. Another favourite part was seeing all the different roles included in producing a single episode of House of Dragon, as I learnt it can take around 2,500 people. Walking around the studio itself felt quite surreal – it is a place I have always wanted to go to’ Shruti
‘I enjoyed the pitch trailer because I learnt how to use the cameras and it was fascinating to see behind the scenes. I was intrigued by the different careers in the industry; I didn’t realise how many there were and what they involved. It was also amazing to see the Jurassic Park car!’ Maria
