Regional Netball Tournaments

U14 tournament

After successfully qualifying at the County Netball tournament in November, the U14s excitedly headed to Farnborough to compete in the Regional tournament on Saturday 1st February.

The day was great fun and filled with lots of competition. In total we had seven matches, all were 14 minutes long with two seven-minute halves that had straight turnovers.

First match of the day was sadly a loss to a very impressive Wycombe High after a strongly-fought and competitive match.

Second up we had Stowe which was a very close match where we only lost by 1 in the last few seconds.

After the first two matches we were ready for a win, which we eventually found in the third match against Priory School with an amazing score of 20-3.

Our fourth match of the day was against Brighton Girls. It was a tight goal for goal match that Brighton just snatched in the last moments.

Even after our losses we kept pushing and encouraging each other throughout the day. This helped us put up such a strong fight in our match against St Swithun’s, a great team who gave us brilliant competition.

Then came Wellington who we had played previously in the week, they were an extremely strong side who had us really coming together as a team. We wanted to end the tournament with a win which we managed to achieve!

This last match was against Blanchelande College. Overall the entire day was a great bonding experience with fantastic Netball and determination with an outcome of sixth in our group.

U16 tournament

After a really successful day at the county tournament before Christmas, the U16 Netball team progressed to the Regional tournament which was played at The Wavell School.

The team was made up by a mix of Year 10 and 11 players and after lots of match preparation we went into the tournament with high hopes.

The first match against Dr Challoner’s School was very close and with just seven minutes each way there was no room for error.

It unfortunately resulted in a loss by two goals, however the team rallied and worked hard for each other and won the next game in their pool against Ryde.

We then had a couple of very narrow losses but finished the pool with a strong win against Les Beaucamps School.

Overall we came fifth in our pool which was not quite enough to secure progression to the semi-finals. We worked hard, played very well and were led brilliantly by our amazing captains Emma and Emily.
