Towers and turrets at Windsor Castle
Year 2 visited Windsor Castle to kick start their new topic: Towers, tunnels and turrets.
They followed a trail around the state rooms to see displays of china, ancient suits of armour, beautiful paintings and impressively regal decorations. The children loved Queen Mary’s dolls house which featured intricate replicas of rooms.
In the afternoon, they visited St George’s Chapel and saw the burial site of Queen Elizabeth II. They also spotted several other graves of former monarchs including Henry VIII.
Fortunately, the weather was fantastic so everyone was able to explore the grounds and gardens where it was possible to take in the multiple towers, turrets, arrow slits and battlements.
