Berlin Art Trip 2025
Armed with a sketchbook, pencils, pens, a rubber and a small watercolour set, artists from Headington Rye Oxford travelled to Berlin during the February half term.
The trip was jam packed with visits to significant historical sites, museums and art galleries.
Day one started off with a visit to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, an impactful and immersive public monument which introduced the pupils to the rich combination of history and art that Berlin has to offer.
Next stop was Brandenburg Gate with an initial introduction to the grandeur and craftsmanship of Berlin’s public sculpture.
This was then followed up with a visit to the Hamburger Museum of Contemporary Art which was both a lesson in architecture and how a space can influence an exhibition.
The day was finished with a trip to the Asisi Panorama and Checkpoint Charlie, which showed the pupils how history has influenced the impact of art on the city.
Day two started with a trip to the famous Jewish Museum designed by Daniel Libeskind, another venue which combines the history of the city with art, architecture and an immersive experience.
This was followed by trips to Berlinische Galerie, C/O Berlin and the KW Institute for Contemporary Art to see art in a variety of mediums.
