Drama Scholars’ Play
The Drama Scholars’ adaptation of Grimm’s fairy tales was nothing short of enchanting.
This was thanks to the brilliant vision of the playwright, Lexi (Year 12), and a cast of scholars from Year 7 right up to Year 13.
Seamlessly weaving together six beloved stories, including timeless tales such as Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood, and Cinderella, the production breathed fresh life into the classics all while maintaining their magical essence.
One of the standout choices in this adaptation was its modern twist, which gave audiences a new perspective on familiar characters.
Lydia’s (Year 12) portrayal of Prince Charming added humour to the role, meanwhile, Penny’s (Year 11) performance as the Evil Queen was nothing short of mesmerizing—she commanded the stage with an air of wicked sophistication that makes her both fearsome and captivating.
Visually, the production was stunning. The set design and costumes blended fantasy with contemporary elements, creating a world that felt both nostalgic and innovative.
Mrs Jannicke Stevens, Director of Drama said: “The play was a huge success! Well done to all the cast and backstage crew for their hard work throughout, it was absolutely fantastic all round!”
