Prep Excel at Biathlon Championships
Headington Prep had a great day out at the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships at Crystal Palace on Saturday 16th March. Ten girls were invited to compete in the finals and competition was tough with the largest numbers of competitors seen in each age group to date.
In the Under 9s Izzy gave her all, swimming for the first time in a 50m pool and four seconds faster in the run, setting a new personal best time, finishing in 61st place. Agatha started well in the Under 10s with another personal best in the swim to gain her an overall finish of 35th. Hannah also gained personal best times in the swim (5 seconds faster) and run (9 seconds faster) to finish in 78th place.
In the Under 11s Izzie produced a great performance to finish 9th overall. On the track, she yet again, took the crown of the fastest U11 run. Sophie finished in a well deserved 40th place knocking eight seconds from her run and a second from her swim time. Molly produced a personal best in the run (5 seconds faster) to gain an overall finish of 132nd. Sienna was six seconds faster over 800m and a second faster in the swim to finish in 142nd place. The team of Izzie, Sophie and Molly were placed 6th out of 24 teams overall.
In the Under 12s Ellie got a great new personal best in the run (seven seconds faster). This gave her a finishing position of 73rd. Sophie battled hard to gain a five second personal best in the run and a finish of 136th. The team of Evelina (Senior School), Ellie and Sophie finished 16th out of 20 teams. All the girls should be very proud of their results in a very high quality final.
Thank you to Miss Holden and all the parents that came to support the Headington Prep team.
