Ayako at the JKA Junior European Karate Championships
A Headington Karate black belt took a bronze medal in an international Karate contest.
Earlier this year, in February 2019, U4 Ayako discovered she would be representing England in the JKA Junior European Karate Championships in the team events. The competition took place in Kadan in the Czech Republic over the 25th and 26th May.
The tournament was extremely competitive however Ayako walked away a bronze medal in the team kumite (sparring) category. She and both her team mates did very well in getting to the stage they did, unfortunately narrowly losing to Germany in their last match who took the silver medal.
Her father Bjarke said: “She is tired after a long, exhausting trip, but obviously also very happy!”
Ayako is hoping for selection to the English team to compete in the 2020 Junior World Championships which will be held in Japan.
