Fantastic Football Festival
Oxford High School Football Festival at Oxford Hawks Hockey Club – Thursday 28th November
Our Headington Prep football team took part in their second football event of the season against a host of Oxford based schools at Oxford Hawks Hockey Club.
In our first game, the girls put on a scintillating performance to see off an Oxford High B team 4-0. Headington got off to a fast start with goals from Lottie W and Mariyah before Sofia and Mariyah added late goals.
The goal fest continued v Oxford High A with goals again from Lottie W, Sofia and Mariyah. Our third game was a hard-fought win against St Nicholas school with Lottie T poaching the winner in the second half. Commanding defensive performances from Martha and Olive ensured Headington held onto the 1-0 win.
Our fourth game against SS Philip and James’ Primary School was another close contest, settled by an own goal to give Headington the victory. The moment of the match was goalkeeper Rose’s stunning save to deny the opposition. Next, a rejuvenated Oxford High A came back to earn a 0-0 draw. We had to concentrate for long periods of this game to ensure our clean sheet remained intact.
Our final game was against Chesterton, who had beaten us at our last event in September. Headington had the majority of possession and had to be patient against a stubborn Chesterton side. Mariyah’s magical turn and finish gave us the lead before Lottie W poached a late goal from a great cross from Lottie T.
A fantastic finish to 2019 and we are looking forward to see what 2020 will bring!
