Swimming National Finals
Headington’s swimmers took on some of the swiftest in the country after reaching the national finals.
After qualifying 20th out of 158 teams, the Senior Medley team (Viann, Ellen, Leni and Evey) travelled to London to compete in the National English Schools Swimming Association finals at the National Aquatic Centre.
This was a huge event, with teams from all over the country competing. The girls were in heat 3 and, after a huge build up, Viann took the lead leg on Backstroke, followed by a storming leg by Ellen on Breaststroke, taking over was Leni on Butterfly who swam an incredible length, finishing was Evey with a fantastic length of Freestyle with a very close finish.
The team finished in fifth in their heat after some gutsy swims from all members of the team. So tight, the team had to wait to see if they had qualified for the finals, but just missed out by 1.1 seconds, making them 14th overall, improving on their qualification by an amazing three seconds- outstanding in itself. A fantastic result.
