1st XI footballers start year in winning ways
Headington’s 1st XI football team continued their fine run of form against Magdalen College School on Wednesday 22nd January 2020.
A strong start from Headington put the pressure on Magdalen early on in the game. They forced a free kick just outside the Magdalen area which Amelie superbly curled into the top corner. The pressure did not subside for Magdalen but a penalty hit straight at the keeper was a missed opportunity for Headington, thus keeping the game within the grasp of their opponents for the rest of the first half.
Shortly after the second half began, Amelie scored a wonder goal from open play which built confidence in the girls, leading to Headington playing some sublime Football before Clemmie’s persistence added a third, leaving the final scoreline at 3-0 to Headington.
Amelie was awarded player of the match with her two impressive individual goals.
