A Raisin in the Sun

A Level Drama students were lucky enough to have a day trip to see Headlong’s ‘A Raisin in the Sun’ at the Oxford Playhouse.

‘A Raisin in the Sun’ broke barriers as the first play by a black woman on Broadway. Directed by Tinuke Craig, this classic family drama full of humour and heart remains relevant and powerful in a world still divided by inequality.

The A Level students were wowed by the show and were even able to meet the lead actor after the performance! The girls were keen to dive deeper into the performance with him by talking about the nuances of the show and his character.

Mrs Jannicke Stevens, Director of Drama said: “It was fantastic see the students engaging with a wonderfully complex performance by speaking with the cast. They proved the depths of their understanding by asking such insightful questions!”
