Aldershot Biathlon 2022 qualifier
Congratulations to all the girls who took part in the Aldershot Biathlon time trial on Saturday 8th January. A large entry of 23 girls from Headington Prep ran and swam their hardest against a strong field.
In the Under 9 age group, Evie stormed home in the run (400m) with the fastest time of the day in a time of 1.24.9, followed by Emma in second. Emma was the highest-placed Headington swimmer, coming home in 22 seconds. Liv gave a strong performance too, which meant that the Headington team of Emma, Liv and Evie were the age group winners.
In the Under 10 age group, nearly all the girls gained personal best times in the swim, many of the girls beating times by several seconds. Lily placed 5th, Mairi 16th and Iona 24th which gave them an overall team performance of fifth.
In the Under 11 age group again, nearly all girls achieved PBs in the swim. The first three Headington girls home were Jess in fifth, Dana in seventh and Avi in 17th. Overall this gave them a team position of third.
In the Under 12s Emily placed 17th and the team of Emily, Isabella (25th) and Freya (41st) placed fifth overall. All the girls should be very proud of their achievements. For many it was their first competition swim and first run on a track. We will now wait to see how many girls have qualified for the National Finals on the weekend of 19th-20th March! Well done everyone!
