Autumn Art roundup
This half term, our budding artists across the School have showcased incredible creativity, resilience, and skill through a variety of exciting projects. Here’s a snapshot of their wonderful achievements:
The youngest artists in Nursery explored the vibrant world of birds, creating stunning paintings that captured the unique shapes, colours, and features of their chosen feathered friends.
Inspired by their Starry Night theme, Reception used a range of media to produce magical, star-filled artworks that truly sparkled with imagination.
Space exploration took off in Year 1 as children applied their DT skills to create junk model space rockets. They worked hard to master different joining techniques, persevering through challenges to produce fantastic designs.
Dinosaurs ruled in Year 2, where children used sand and pasta to cleverly recreate prehistoric creatures, bringing texture and creativity to their imaginative projects.
Drawing inspiration from British artist LS Lowry, Year 3 focused on perspective and produced stunning cityscapes that beautifully reflected Lowry’s iconic style.
Developing their drawing skills, Year 4 learned how to break down figures into simple shapes to ensure accurate proportions. They turned their detailed sketches into striking monotype prints, using a printing press to create professional-quality results.
Year 5 embraced product design, creating Winter Wonderland themed pop-up cards inspired by renowned paper engineer Robert Sabuda. Their beautifully engineered cards could rival those found in any Christmas shop!
The Paris Summer Olympics provided the inspiration for Year 6, who combined watercolour figures with bold acrylic backgrounds to paint dynamic scenes of Olympians in motion.
Prep Head of Art and Design Technology Helen Clark said: “It has been a joy to see the children’s enthusiasm, imagination, and dedication shine through in every piece of work. Well done to all our artists for their hard work and outstanding achievements this half term!”
