‘Bring your pet to school’ day
Year 1 were invited to bring their pet to school for the day to share their knowledge about being responsible for an animal and ensuring all its needs are met.
This year girls welcomed two dogs to the classroom, one big and one small! The children learned about the importance of walks, food, water, treats and visiting the vet.
The children were able to stroke the animals and embed their understanding of animals with ‘Paws, Claws and Whiskers’ which is the title of their current topic.
They also focused on class rabbit, Fudge, comparing and contrasting with the dogs. Which were carnivores, omnivores or herbivores? Everyone agreed you need to be very responsible to have a pet.
