CCF Summer Camp
Over the summer break, cadets at Headington School had three fun filled days of both adventure and military activities. Read the report from SSgt Trowbridge below:
On the first day of CCF Summer Camp, we headed off to Cirencester lakes. Cadets teamed up to form competitive groups in the raft building and Katakanu races. The senior cadets came out on top with their raft making.
We stacked plenty of paddle boards and had everyone in the team standing to paddle back to shore, with some cadets finding this more challenging than others, however all cadets thoroughly enjoyed the challenge.
On day two, the cadets were fortunate enough to be able to use Radley’s CCF resources, especially the field gun with thanks to Wng Cmdr Morris for his instruction. The cadets took part in senior vs junior field gun races, however this time with the junior cadets came out on top. 1-1.
In the afternoon of day two, cadets took part in air rifle shooting where many cadets impressed and therefore achieved their marksman badges. Our group then went back to Headington Rye Oxford for a night under bashas and a barbeque, which was great fun.
We were up early on the third and final day with archery and clay pigeon shooting to start the cadets off. The top score was a phenomenal 24/25! We ended our camp with laser tag games, including different challenges around old military tanks and helicopters.
Thank you to all the staff for making the camp so fun for us all!
