Christmas festivities – tangerines and all!
Christmas truly arrived at Prep at the end of term.
The magical Christingle Service kickstarted the festivities on Tuesday 3rd December followed by the charming Nativity, “The Littlest Shepherd” the following day. Both set the tone for a joyful end of term.
On Friday 6th December, Father Christmas visited Prep to give everyone a present and after lunch the children enjoyed an incredible Christmas Fair with plentiful stalls that parent reps had brilliantly organised.
The following week saw a cheery array of Christmas jumpers on display and the fantastic catering team produced a delicious Christmas feast.
In honour of a cherished Rye St Antony tradition, the Prep School also hosted a Tangerine Party where children performed in an entertaining talent show, sung the “Twelve Days of Christmas” and enjoyed a multitude of tangerines!
There was also a surprise for the children as the staff took to the stage to perform a hilariously-entertaining pantomime.
There had been rumours that it might not take place again this year, causing some concern among the children. Fortunately, Miss Bev Frewin had once again been busy, secretly squirrelling in rehearsals so that the children could enjoy the delights of Mrs Christmas’s journey around the world to see the Christmas traditions in other lands.
There were roars of laughter as the Sprout Lord (aka Mr Richard Kidd) took the stage and once again when the Ugly Sisters appeared through the audience – ‘All the single ladies’ has never been performed so well!
On the final day of term, the whole school enjoyed a variety of treats. Reception and Nursery went on a trip to the theatre to watch “Hurry Up Father Christmas”, Years 1 and 2 enjoyed a Christmas party and Years 3 to 6 attended the traditional Prep Carol Service. What a sparkly end to a busy term!
