Cityscapes Textiles Workshop
Year 9 pupils recently immersed themselves in a creative and hands-on exploration of ‘Cityscapes’ through a series of dynamic workshops blending fashion, architecture, and textile design.
On 30th January, girls participated in a day of dynamic workshops on their theme “Cityscapes”.
They learned how to generate exciting design ideas, collaging architectural elements into fashion illustrations.
They created woven samples led by a professional visiting weaver and explored how shape is created in garments by experimenting with darts, pleats and gathers in paper, styled onto mannequins.
The groups also projected city scenes onto their paper dresses and recorded the results.
Miss Louise Pike, Head of Art Textiles, said: “It is very valuable for the girls to experiment in the sorts of environments that these workshops provide.
“Trying out new methods and techniques give them a playground which may help them as they carry their new skills on to their GCSE years.”
