Classicists face off in reading competition heats
The Classics Department had a very busy and exciting week with the launch of the Classical Reading Competition.
This year the event proved so popular that auditions had to be held. More than 40 girls competed for the limited 10 places available for the Junior Dialogue category. We also have performers preparing for the Latin verse and prose entries. The department is hoping to build on its success of the past few years which has seen Headington placed first in several categories across age groups.
We are delighted this year that we will also be able to enter students not only for the Greek verse category but also, for the first time in many years, the Greek Junior Dialogue.
The competition will be held in mid-March at the Ioannou Centre for Classical and Byzantine Studies at Oxford University and girls will face stiff competition from classicists from across the county. We wish them all the best of luck in their rehearsals in the coming weeks and on the day.
