D’Overbroeck’s Model United Nations Conference
On the weekend of 4th and 5th March, 11 Headington students participated in the D’Overbroeck’s Model United Nations (MUN) conference.
The conference followed on from the success that many of the students enjoyed participating at MUN conferences at both Magdalen College School and Wychwood School. The conference was an opportunity for students to practise negotiation skills on some of the world’s most important issues, such as the conflict in Israel and Palestine, international migrant worker abuse and the weaponisation of Information and Technology.
This conference was the first for many of the girls and they participated with courage, conviction, confidence and aplomb. All the students had prepared resolutions and many of them presented and debated their resolutions.
Mr Cy Webber, Head of Economics and Business Studies at Headington School, said: “This has helped developed our MUN club into regular weekly attendance of 25 students and growing expertise in logic, debating and strategies to obtain specific outcomes with regard to a specific issue. Well done to everyone who participated!”
