Forest School adventures
Children in Nursery, Reception and Years 1 and 2 have all enjoyed their trips to Forest School over the last few weeks.
They have been on the hunt for minibeasts, listened to the call of the birds and used binoculars to try and spot them high in the trees. There has also been plentiful den building, splashing in puddles and the making of mud pies.
Nursery have enjoyed getting to know the Forest School this term including the mud slide, the sleeping dragon and finding their way over squelchy ground by practising balancing.
They hunted for acorns and conkers and enjoyed making little boats to float in muddy puddles. They enjoyed a fire where we made toast!
The children in Reception most recently had fun creating hedgehogs out of brown playdough and a variety of sticks they gathered from the woods.
They have also made conker boats and tested whether they float or sink and were very excited to spot five different fairy homes in the trees with their binoculars.
They have enjoyed some tasty snacks of watermelon and flapjack and kept nice and warm for their adventures with some tasty hot chocolate.
Some pupils even managed to toast marshmallows over a firepit, which aroused much excitement from the Year 1 cohort. Year 2 also enjoyed a visit to Forest School where they made leaf crowns with as many autumnal colours as possible!
Head of EYFS Miss Ruth Sibly said: “It is always a fun adventure getting to their base camp as there are also lots of things to discover on the little forest track, as they make their way there and back.”
