Fun at Thorpe Park
Grey skies, queues and traffic jams were not enough to deter the L5 and U5 from having an adrenaline filled day of fun and excitement at Thorpe Park.
The girls have made a brilliant start to the year and it was lovely for us as a pastoral team to reward them with this privilege. Some were hardcore rollercoaster enthusiasts, whilst others were a bit more tentative. Some had a strict plan for how they were going to maximise their time in Thorpe Park and attack as many rides as possible, whilst others were quite happy ambling around seeing what was free and queue-less.
Well done to those – both staff and students – who braved the heights and speeds of the rollercoasters, despite some trepidation (at least on the part of Head of U5 Mr Alex Williams).
Fortunately, there were other, less dizzying, options available for entertainment: many chose instead to see who could withstand the most intensive soaking on the water rides, who could pull the most ridiculous expression at the park cameras, or who could order the most indulgent plate of churros and chocolate sauce.
Mr Williams said: “It was a lovely day in the sun, with lots of fun had, and a real treat for me to see the girls having some deserved downtime.
“U5 is a busy and at times stressful year, and having moments like this to enjoy, amongst the hard work, will be great for their wellbeing and enable them to succeed long term.”
