Headington Host South African Touring Teams
Headington hosted a touring team from South Africa for an exciting and competitive afternoon of sport on Thursday 5th October.
Headington’s visitors travelled from Paarl Girls High, a beautiful school in the Winelands of the Western Cape.
Headington’s U16 Hockey Team fought hard in a very evenly-matched contest where they were 1-1 going into half time, earned a 3-1 lead, but eventually conceded two excellent goals to end in a 3-3 draw.
After the final whistles, teams came together to share gifts with each other, learn about their languages and cultures. At the end of the day, the teams enjoyed a delicious meal together.
Headington PE teacher Miss Philippa Horlock said: “The spirit and atmosphere on display from both schools was a beautiful representation of the power of sport in bringing people together!
“Thank you, Paarl Girls High… hopefully one day we can have a rematch on your home turf!”
