Helicopter seed fun
Year 3 have been looking at how different plants disperse their seeds. After exploring five different methods, the children were shown how to build paper helicopters to replicate the Field Maple. They then took advantage of the lovely weather to delve deeper into their science enquiry skills by setting up fair investigations observing how different sized helicopters would fall. After lots of fun outside, the children then had a fantastic discussion that applied what they had learnt to conclude which size seeds may have a better chance of a successful dispersal.
