Higher Education Evening 2024
On Wednesday 7th February, Headington welcomed more than 20 Higher Education Institutions to our annual Higher Education Evening.
The evening began with a bustling set of stalls where students were able to get a wealth of information on courses and institutions as well as grabbing the odd goody or two like a tote bag and pen!
It was sandwiched with an in depth talk on the UCAS process and other post school options such as Degree Apprenticeships before students could then choose a bespoke route for the rest of the evening.
They were able to select from a carousel of talks as diverse as Studying the Creative Arts, How to Get the Best out of Open Days, Personal Statements, Medicine and Business with a Foreign Language, to name but a few.
The diversity of the institutions was a particular strength with a large number of Russell Group institutions and universities ranked gold in the TEF (teaching excellence framework) alongside industry and career fronted colleges such as Oxford Media and Business School.
Academic Director of Sixth Form Mrs Alice Barrett said: “The students were incredibly engaged and asked intelligent and pertinent questions.
“It was exciting to see their interest so firmly piqued and I hope it was an inspiration for their next steps after school.
“A huge thanks to the Higher Education Institutions who attended and made the event possible and to housekeeping and catering for facilitating the practicalities of the evening.”
