HSOBC celebrates 30 years!
Headington School & HSOBC hosted a special lunch to celebrate the boat club’s 30th Anniversary, welcoming Headingtonians and parents who have played an integral part in shaping the Club over the last 30 years.
The occasion was happy, vibrant and a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends to celebrate HSOBC, which has become one of the largest and most successful school Boat Clubs in the UK.
Current Boat Club staff, coaches and club founders told the story of how Rowing first started at Headington and wowed the attendees in stories, anecdotes and tales of how the club developed over the years.
It was an amazing opportunity to celebrate so many people who’ve been part of the Boat Club over the 30 years, get them together to honour their lasting friendships all while celebrating this milestone anniversary.
As we look forward to the next 30 years, Headington will be building their very own Boathouse at Long Wittenham in the near future. The aim is to be rowing there from September 2023, however it is only with the generous support of parents, alumnae and the wider community that HSOBC will finally have its own home.
Mrs Helen Batchelor, External Relations Trustee at Headington, said: “It was amazing to see so many people come to our event on Saturday. It was a wonderful experience and a joy to celebrate such a seminal moment in the history of the Boat Club.
“We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who has already supported the Boathouse fundraising campaign.”
