IAPS Regional Swimming qualifiers
On Friday 9th February, ten Year 5 and 6 Headington Prep Swim Team girls made the short journey to the Dragon Prep for the IAPS Regional Qualifiers. With a small but very strong team they had high hopes of achieving some of the qualifying times that would ultimately seal a spot at the National Finals on June 8th at the National Aquatic Centre in London. They will find out if they have qualified later in April.
The girls arrived early and made sure the warm up was thorough. They started with the relays and first up was the Year 5 Medley relay team. They worked so well together making some great changeovers and finished third. This was a much-needed start which helped to build the confidence and rid the nerves throughout the team. The Year 6 Medley Relay team then followed and once again, they worked so hard for each other coming away victorious on the day with a very good time of 1.16.23. As they went through the programme of races, the girls grew in confidence. They went on to have five more first places, two seconds, two thirds and a fourth. It really was a magnificent effort and a real display of great Headington team spirit.
