International Evening 2025

One of Headington Rye’s most highly-anticipated celebrations of multiculturalism is the annual International Evening.

Each year, the School’s boarding community comes together for this spectacular event, showcasing a vibrant array of singing and dancing performances that pay tribute to their backgrounds.

The evening began with a beautiful solo performance in Cantonese, which demonstrated the level of exceptional talent that was yet to come.

It continued with incredible dance performances, an action-packed Kung-Fu performance and beautiful piano playing that left the audience in awe. A high-energy dance ‘mashup’ brought an infectious sense of fun with the audience clapping along and wanting to get on stage with them!

The performances continued to show more incredible vocals through some songs which were heart-warming and moving and others which brought today’s hits to life.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was a truly unique performance by ballet dancers dressed in inflatable dinosaur costumes.

The trio brought a playful twist to the night and had the audience in hysterics as they swished and waddled around the stage.

Once the audience recovered from their laughter, the performances moved towards the end of the show with some more amazing dances from across the year groups such as a catchy and energetic dance routine to Bruno Mars’ ‘APT’ which was a huge hit with the crowd.

To close the evening, U6 had their moment to shine with their eagerly awaited dance routine to ‘Cake by the Ocean’. This was an amazing and energetic end to the night and an emotional goodbye to their final International Evening.

Miss Rebecca Denny-Holmes, Graduate Boarding Assistant said: “This night was such a success in large part thanks to the efforts and organisation of Madame Preston and the incredible co-hosts, Sakeena and Alisha.

“International Evening was a remarkable celebration of culture, creativity, and talent. From stunning performances to unforgettable moments, it showcased the diversity and unity that make our school so special. We can’t wait until the next one!”
