James Cousins Company Dance
GCSE dancers from Year 10 and 11 took part in a professional dance workshop with James Cousins Company.
The Dance Department welcomed two professional dancers to come and work with the girls on a set work called ‘Within Her Eyes’. In this work, the female dancers never once touch the floor in the entire 17-minute performance. The Headington Rye dancers took part in lots of contact work, lifting and balancing to recreate some of the professional repertoire.
Mrs Kylie Waite, Dance teacher said: “The Headington Rye dancers worked with excellent focus and engagement and showed a great willingness to trust their partners and actually ‘fly like superman’!
“Within Her Eyes is a professional work that is studied on the GCSE curriculum so the pupils will benefit hugely from the practical experience when it comes to their written exam in the summer.”
