L5 Ashmolean Trip
On Wednesday 29th June, 25 L5 girls studying Classical Greek or Classical Civilisation visited the Ashmolean Museum to complement their study of the Greek world.
It was a chance for the civilisation pupils to see up close objects such as the lion hunt dagger, Greek gods and their iconography as well as some of the replicas in the cast gallery. This served as a useful consolidation of the material they have been studying this year as well as a good introduction to the Homeric world for both groups who will be reading the Odyssey either in translation or the original language.
The replica metopes, pediments and casts of the Augustus prima porta allowed them to get the sense of the scale of these buildings and statues in the flesh.
