Leavers’ Farewell Concert
The Leavers’ Farewell Concert was organised by the Sixth Formers on Thursday 20th April, who wanted to have a fun, musical evening before their exams.
These musicians have played together for a long time, some since Prep School, and the evening was filled with friendship, family and a mutual fondness of the music they were playing.
On stage, there were special guests including some of the girls’ parents and siblings. The audience heard music from an amazing variety of genres; from a baroque version of a Lady Gaga song arranged for string quartet to a wonderful sextet by Brahms beautifully played by some of the girls and their parents. Rachmaninoff was also amazing, played with six hands by the Graham family.
The showmanship didn’t stop there, as during a performance, the quartet girls swapped their instruments around as they were performing! The concert ended with a mystery song that involved all the performers and surprised the audience members.
Acting Director of Music Mr James Penman was presented with a present of gratitude as the concert finished, marking the close of their musical journey together, while the action brought on some emotions!
Mrs Rossella Rubini, Head of Piano said: “The evening was a wonderful expression of the girls’ musical friendship. It was amazing to hear how the girls have developed together and even more impressive that they organised the evening together to play to all of their strengths.
“Well done to all of the girls. We look forward to seeing them progress in the future.”
