Mini-marathon charity event
Miss Ruth Sibly and Mr Tom Peace are running in the the London Marathon this year and Headington Prep School pupils are doing a few events in school to raise the profile of this. On 21st March, pupils from Nursery up to Year 2 took part in a mini marathon at the Senior School to raise funds for Thomley Hall, for which Miss Sibly is also fundraising.
The children arrived in the afternoon ready for a fun warm up to music on the field, ahead of the scheduled start of the running races at 2.00 pm. EYFS pupils ran first, followed by Year 1 and then Year 2. It was amazing to see the number of children who decided to challenge themselves and ran a second lap of the course. Whether the children ran one or two laps, it was an impressive display by all. Every child received a medal on the finish line, individually decorated by the children in EYFS and KS1 earlier in the week. They were also treated to a biscuit medal, which was the perfect end to a wonderful afternoon.
