National Netball Finals Success
Headington’s Netballers are among the best in the country after an impressive performance at the National Netball Finals.
The U14 National finals were held at Oundle School on Saturday 17th March, with Headington’s team coming to the event on the back of success at Regionals and some focussed training sessions, meaning excitement (and nerves!) were high.
The competition was split into two pools of nine teams played in a round robin format.
Unfortunately, the team started the morning against tough competition, losing the first four games- Sevenoaks (9-20), Trent College (6-7), King’s School Macclesfield (7-10) and Yarm School (8-16).
With one more game before lunch, the side rallied for a fantastic win against Dauntsey’s School (14-4).
After the break, the girls came out fighting and had a fantastic afternoon, beating Silverdale School (10-8), drawing with Bromsgrove School (7-7) and beating St Albans (9-6).
The final standings saw the team place joint eighth nationally – an incredible achievement.
Netball coach Mrs Vicki Cathcart said: “We are immensely proud of all of the squad for their phenomenal effort this term.
“Thank you to all the support from parents and family on the day and throughout the season. A special mention must go to Eloise Hepple for being our super scorer at both Regional and National tournaments.”
