Nice French Trip 2024
A group of 28 girls from L5 to U6 travelled to Nice in France for an immersive experience. Read reports below from Christina, Natasha and Emilia.
After an early start on Sunday 20th October, we were warmly greeted by our host families at Nice airport before visiting the beautiful Museé Masséna where we learnt about the history of Nice in the 19th century, giving us a taste of the city which was to be our home for the next few days.
Having settled in quickly to our host families and having lessons every morning, I think I speak for everyone when I say comprehension and speaking skills improved significantly not only in the classroom but also during our guided tours of Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Monaco.
Highlights include seeing the impressive waterfall in Nice, sunbathing on the picturesque beaches in both Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer and visiting the Confiserie Florian on our last day, where we were able to watch sweets being made in real time and buy some from the gift shop to take home to our families!
Overall it was a great trip and our exposure to the French language and culture allowed our French to flourish – thank you to the teachers who made it possible!

The trip to Nice was an amazing experience that boosted my ability to speak French significantly in the five days we spent there. This was not only from the three hours of French school that we did every day, where we learned about new grammar rules and vocabulary, but also from being exposed to the culture in Nice and listening to our tour guide talk about the history of the three places we visited : Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Monaco.
After learning about these places, we had some time each day to explore and go shopping in the three places for around an hour, before returning to the house of our French host families for dinner.
The family I stayed with was very friendly and encouraging when we found it difficult to express ideas and one night we went out for a walk on the beach in the evening with them.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this trip to students who want to improve their spoken French and experience the culture of a city never visited before.

The Nice trip was overall brilliant. We went on fabulous excursions every afternoon and had informative and helpful lessons in the morning.
The trip really immersed us in French culture and gave all of us a better understanding of the French language.
We stayed with a Niçois family who spoke mostly/ only to us in French. The language teachers focused on speaking and conversation skills which really helped us to further develop our speaking skills.
The excursions however were the highlight of the trip with visits to Monaco, Villefranche-sur-Mer, the Colline and Villa Masséna Musée.
My favourite out of these was Villefranche sur mer because of its lack of tourists, clear blue sea, beautiful roads and sweet souvenir shops.
Overall the school trip to Nice was well organised, great fun and definitely one to remember.
