October’s Chamber Concert
The Music Department held an afternoon Chamber Concert which showcased a wide variety of students and music from all across the school.
The concert started with the newly formed Sixth Form Glee Club performing Mika’s ‘Happy Ending’. The band then played their own arrangement of a popular song called ‘Live Like Stars’ and the intermediate group ended the concert with an arrangement of Grieg’s ‘Wedding Day at Troldhaugen’.
There were many string groups who performed some well-known jigs which pleased the crowd. Jackie and friends performed some music from Telemann. Alice, Florence and Victoria performed the first movement of Martinu’s Trio for Flute, Cello and Piano which wowed the crowd.
Miss Katherine Roberts, Flute Teacher and Head of Woodwind and Brass said: “The concert was very popular and it had a lovely atmosphere. It certainly lifted the mood from the dreary weather outside! We’re looking forward to the next one in the Spring Term!”
