Piano Masterclass with Roberto Plano
In April, the Music Department invited a piano virtuoso to share his skills at a masterclass.
The workshop with Maestro Roberto Plano was reserved for a number of selected piano players from both the Prep and Senior schools. The public lessons were inspirational to both teachers and pupils.
Maestro Plano is Associate Professor of Piano at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and in 2018 won the 1st Prize of the American Prize Competition in the solo professional division. He is also Professor of Piano at the Royal Northern College of Music and will be one of the members of the Screening Jury for the 2025 Val Cliburn International Piano Competition, the most prestigious piano competition in the world.
He said: “I am astonished by the music facilities at Headington. The Music Department clearly has the students in mind and is able to support their education in a fantastic way. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm and passion in both the girls and staff”.
