Remembrance Day 2023
Headington took part in a variety of activities to mark Remembrance Day in 2023.
The CCF contingent were out in full force on Sunday 12th November, to take part in Oxford City Centre’s Remembrance Parade on St Giles.
Forty-three cadets attended the Remembrance Parade alongside other units from the Reserves, Army, Navy, RAF, Sea Cadets and the Scouts. They marched down to the war memorial at St Giles Church, listening carefully to the joint faith service. Corporal Emma (L6) laid a wreath on behalf of Headington School and Corporal Natascha (L6) was Headington’s Standard Bearer, marching ahead of the contingent. The group marched under the guidance of Lt Travis and saluted the dignitaries as the parade came to a close.
In the lead up to the parade, the CCF had been practicing their drill to present themselves well on the day. All cadets also played a part in selling poppies and accessories to the wider school community, raising a good sum of money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
On Friday 10th November, the School held a remembrance service in the Sports Hall. Senior cadets contributed to the readings within the service while the L5 handed out orders of service and guided pupils into the service.
