Scoot and Bike
Ready, steady, go! Headington Rye Prep’s Nursery class lined up for a special Scoot and Bike event.
The activity aimed at kickstarting the Nursery class’s termly topic ‘Big Wide World’.
The children were invited to bring in a scooter or a bike to look at different modes of travelling and getting around.
Head of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Miss Ruth Sibly said: “We had a fun filled adventure ride around the beautiful Headington Rye site.
“We discussed safety on the roads and when out and about, practised stop, look and listen, discussed speed bumps and zebra crossings.”
The event links to all areas of the Early Years curriculum, particularly focusing on physical development and moving safely and understanding the world in terms of moving around the world using different types of transport.
Alongside this, the girls and boys are building an aeroplane in the EYFS deconstructed role play area, stimulating a host of imaginary play.
